Auray and Vannes

The towns ofAuray and Vannes have a lot in common: they both lie at the bottom of a ria, were once the residences of the Dukes of Brittany, have a harbour, half-timbered houses and narrow streets… make the most of your stay at Camping*** Le Diben and follow the guide!

Auray

If you like towns that speak for themselves about their history, half-timbered houses and art, you’ll love the town of Auray. It’s set in a ria in the Gulf of Morbihan, where the sea and the Auray river meet.

In the Middle Ages, the Dukes of Brittany built a bridge, a port and a castle. Today, nothing remains of the castle, but the houses, the narrow streets and the whole town bear witness to this history.

You can’t go to Auray without stopping off at the port of Saint-Goustan. It was once an important trading port. Today, it welcomes yachtsmen, artists and craftsmen.

To discover the town on foot, pick up the ” Heritage Tours ” leaflets from the Tourist Office .

Vannes

Vannes enjoys the rare privilege of having a marina right in the heart of the city.

Keystone of the Gulf of Morbihan, it benefits from its mild and luminous climate.
A prestigious past going back 2000 years with its cathedral, its Musée de la Cohueits ramparts and old wash-houses.
